Eagle laser systems at PFS provide a high-precision alternative to mechanical routing and chemical etching, specializing in both organic material cutting and industrial metal marking. We focus on the Eagle X and Fibermark series to cover the full spectrum of CO2 and Fiber laser applications.

Eagle Laser Technology: CO2 vs. Fiber

1. Eagle X7050 Desktop (CO2 Laser) The X7050 is a versatile CO2 system designed for cutting and engraving organic materials with extreme detail.

  • Material Versatility: Engineered to cut through over 3/16" of acrylic and engrave on wood, leather, glass, and fabric.
  • Triple-Mode Operation: Features three distinct operating modes—engraving, cutting, and combined—allowing for complex multi-process jobs in a single setup.
  • Precision Optics: Utilizes a 2" focus lens and a metal COP laser tube for consistent beam quality across the 27.5" x 19.7" work area.
  • Maintenance-Free Cooling: The air-cooled laser source eliminates the need for external water chillers, reducing the machine's footprint and maintenance requirements.

2. Eagle Fibermark F2 (MOPA Fiber Laser) The F2 series is an industrial-grade marking solution optimized for high-speed etching on metals and specific engineered plastics.

  • MOPA Technology: The Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) source allows for pulse duration adjustment, enabling "color marking" on stainless steel and high-contrast marks on sensitive plastics.
  • High-Speed Galvo System: Unlike gantry-based CO2 lasers, the F2 uses a high-speed galvanometer (mirror-based) system for near-instantaneous marking speeds.
  • Flexible Work Area: Standard 4.3" x 4.3" marking field with an optional 7" x 7" expansion to accommodate diverse part sizes.
  • Industrial Integration: The aluminum plate working table features a threaded hole array for easy mounting of custom jigs and fixtures to ensure 100% repeatability.

Solving Laser Production Failure Points

Q: Why does my acrylic have "frosted" edges instead of a polished look? A: This is typically caused by incorrect frequency or speed settings on a CO2 laser. The Eagle X7050’s CO2 RF Metal Tube provides the beam stability necessary to achieve a "flame-polished" edge in a single pass, eliminating the need for manual secondary polishing.

Q: Can a CO2 laser mark bare stainless steel or aluminum? A: No, a CO2 laser will reflect off bare metal. For permanent, high-contrast marking on industrial metals without using messy chemical sprays, the Eagle Fibermark F2 is required. It physically alters the surface or creates a carbon migration mark that is resistant to chemicals and abrasion.

Q: How do I prevent "scorching" on the back of wood or acrylic? A: Scorching is caused by the laser beam reflecting off the solid cutting bed. Eagle systems utilize specialized honeycomb or slat inserts that lift the material, allowing the air assist to clear smoke and heat away from the underside of the substrate.

Critical Risk Assessment

While the Eagle X7050 offers massive versatility for giftware and signage, it cannot process metals, which limits its utility in industrial marking sectors. Conversely, the Fibermark F2 is the fastest solution for metal tagging but cannot cut through wood or acrylic. Shops must also invest in proper filtration; while the X7050 is air-cooled, the particulate matter generated when cutting plastics or wood requires a dedicated fume extraction system to prevent internal optic contamination and health risks.
