The Dot Hits 17 Million Cuts on its MBM Aerocut

Placentia, CA, May 5, 2022 - The Dot Corp. Inc., is a leading provider of scalable solutions for businesses of all sizes in all industries. It recently reached 17 million cuts on the original MBM Aerocut purchased back in 2013. Based in Irvine, CA, The Dot Corp. has been in business for 35 years. With its emphasis on print and marketing innovation, it strives to provide its clients with cost effective, high quality products.

The Dot Corp. first purchased the machine nearly a decade ago to accommodate its new business opportunities into real estate. "We acquired a company where a big portion of its business was real estate which required business cards. We started cutting the cards by hand with a guillotine but quickly ran into issues with timing and deadlines," recalls Scott Pohle, Digital Print Manager at The Dot. "It was clear we needed to automate the process. After some research, we reached out to Duplo which did not have any solutions for us. Then PFS introduced us to the Aerocut, and that's been a tremendous success."

Scott continues, "The best feature of the Aerocut that has been most helpful has been the business card slitter." Reaching over 17 million cuts speaks to the quality and durability of the MBM machine. In honor of this great milestone, The Dot Corp. was awarded a special plaque from MBM and Uchida in Japan plus an extra blade (valued at $3,000) in gratitude for its continued loyalty to the Aerocut Slitter Cutter Creaser.

Bill Friedrich, MBM Regional Sales Manager was on hand to celebrate this moment. "Fast forward nearly 10 years from the original Aerocut, the newest generation Aerocut X Pro is nearly three times faster. Now, you can produce custom jobs laid out and created in no time. Intellicut Software is the brains behind the mechanics. If you have large postcard runs on top of business cards or table toppers, Intellicut is quite the valuable tool that allows for variable data. The best part-- Intellicut is included in the price of the machine," stated Friedrich.

"With the closure of binderies in the wake of COVID, proficiency and adoption of in-house solutions became necessary," states Richard True, PFS Equipment Consultant to The Dot. "However, this move has to be coupled with automated production given the scarcity of skilled labor. The MBM Aerocut is a great example of how a print shop adopts automation to increase not only its operational efficiencies but its profitability."

At the end, the investment in the Aerocut has been a positive return experience for The Dot. Pohle concludes, "PFS & MBM have been a great partner through this process. We've been able to replace an employee with this machine. It's been a very positive experience."
