The Morgana NovaBind 300 is a hotmelt perfect binder for printers who need professional-quality bound books on short to medium runs, whether they work with traditional or digital print. It offers a feature set normally found on higher-priced machines at an entry-level price, which makes it a practical first step into in-house perfect binding or a dependable addition to an existing finishing line.
Built for speed and consistency
Binding speeds reach up to 220 books per hour. Much of that throughput comes from automation between cycles. A vacuum-assisted cover feeder positions each cover, and the machine measures every book block as it is inserted. It then adjusts the spine and hinge crease width to match the measured thickness, so operators don't make manual adjustments from one book to the next. The workflow is load, press, unload, repeat, which keeps operator time between cycles close to zero and results consistent even when thicknesses vary within a job.
Full control from the touchscreen
A 10" color touchscreen gives operators control over the whole binding process. Settings include:
- Nip time, with nip pressure adjustable from 10% to 100%
- Nip offset for square or round spines
- Nip, milling, and cover crease on/off
- Glue temperature, block/cover offset, and cover/spine tri-flex positioning
The machine can also run in manual cover-feed mode, or do block padding only without a cover, so it handles more than standard cover-and-block jobs.
Glue system
The NovaBind 300 uses an open two-tank system with multi-element heating and heat cut-off fuse technology. It runs a two-roll setup with a reverse spinner roll and a separate side-glue tank, and it supports both PO and EVA adhesives, so you can choose the glue that suits each application.
Safety and a clean working environment
Safety is built in at several levels:
- Two-hand safety controls and a primary power emergency stop
- An interlocked top hatch with a fume evacuation fan
- An automatic safety brake on the 24-tooth milling and notching station
- Heat cut-off fuse protection on the glue tanks
- Integrated cyclone paper dust extraction to keep the work area clean
Flexible sizing
The single linear guide-rail clamp holds book blocks from 1mm to 60mm thick. Book blocks can range from 70mm x 120mm up to 340mm x 320mm (spine length x width). Auto-fed covers run from 210mm x 300mm up to 340mm x 660mm in 120 to 300gsm stock. Manually fed covers go down to 100mm x 300mm and up to roughly 400gsm. A detachable side-stand on casters includes a tilted storage station that lets freshly bound books cool effectively before handling.
