FAQs
Which ink cartridges are compatible with the Postmark EnveJet?
The EnveJet 1170 uses official HP FI-1000 cartridges in cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Postmark specifies official HP consumables for this printer. Verify the PFS or HP part number before placing an order.
What are the cartridge capacities for Postmark EnveJet inks?
Standard capacities are 237 ml for cyan, 233 ml for magenta, 225 ml for yellow, and 241 ml for black. These small differences are normal. Track each channel separately instead of basing replacement timing on the first low cartridge.
Can we run compatible or third-party ink in an EnveJet?
Postmark does not recommend unofficial consumables and states that using them voids the printer warranty. The 1170 reads each cartridge chip, so an unapproved cartridge may also cause recognition, status, or ink-delivery problems.
Do EnveJet starter cartridges contain the standard ink volume?
No. Starter cartridges are used during manufacturing and contain about 125 ml less ink than standard cartridges. Base production planning on full replacement-cartridge capacities rather than the runtime recorded from the starter set.
Should we keep a complete CMYK set in inventory?
Yes. One depleted color channel can stop a scheduled envelope run, and consumption varies with coverage. Postmark recommends keeping spare ink on hand. A complete set also covers service procedures that require cartridges with enough remaining volume.
When should the FI-1000 service tray be replaced?
Replace the service tray when the printer requests maintenance or when a technician directs you to do so. The tray collects ink discharged during cleaning and maintenance cycles. Keep one spare with the shop's Postmark EnveJet inks.
Can a cartridge previously installed in another EnveJet be reused?
The printer may identify the cartridge as used because its chip was previously associated with another machine. Check the remaining volume and physical condition before counting on that cartridge for a scheduled mailing run.
How much ink is needed after a printhead replacement?
A replacement BNB printhead purge can consume roughly 300 ml across the ink system. Postmark specifies cartridges above 50 percent for the procedure. Coordinate with Print & Finishing Solutions to confirm that enough ink and waste capacity are available.
