FAQs
Which ink cartridge fits my iJetColor press?
Match the ink to the press model, serial number, color, cartridge volume, and current part number. Classic, NXT, Pro, and 1175-family presses use different supply systems. Print & Finishing Solutions can verify compatibility before shipping the cartridge.
Can I use 1175-family pigment ink in an iJetColor Classic, NXT, or Pro?
No. Classic, NXT, and earlier Pro systems use dye-based aqueous ink. The 1175 family uses pigment-based aqueous ink. Their cartridges, printheads, fluid systems, and operating profiles differ.
Should I choose dye-based or pigment-based iJet ink?
Dye ink works well on porous, uncoated envelopes and short-life direct mail. Pigment ink provides better resistance to water, scratching, and fading, so it is better suited to coated mailers, labels, and pieces exposed to frequent handling or moisture.
Are iJet ink costs based only on cartridge price?
No. Calculate ink cost using image coverage, color mix, spoilage, cleaning cycles, cartridge yield, and sellable output. A low-coverage addressed envelope uses far less ink than a four-edge-bleed design with heavy solids.
Which iJet maintenance supplies should a production shop keep on hand?
Keep the correct CMYK ink in stock. When volume warrants it, add an approved printhead and the model-specific cleaning or waste-ink parts. NXT users may also need a wiper roller, waste tray, and absorbent pad. Inspect feeder belts and separators during scheduled maintenance.
How should iJet ink be stored?
Store unopened ink in its original packaging within the temperature range printed on the label. Keep it away from freezing temperatures, direct sunlight, dust, and sharp temperature swings. Rotate stock by receipt date, and do not install damaged or leaking cartridges.
Why does an iJet cartridge part number differ from the one previously ordered?
Supply numbers may change when a cartridge is replaced, resized, or superseded. A newer 1175-family black cartridge, for example, replaced an earlier part number in December 2025. Verify the replacement against the machine model before ordering.
Can Print & Finishing Solutions help diagnose an ink or print-quality problem?
Yes. Provide the press model, serial number, installed cartridge numbers, substrate, nozzle-check result, error code, and defect photos. Print & Finishing Solutions uses those details to distinguish among ink, printhead, maintenance, feeding, and file-related causes.
This table is optimized to answer which ink format and maintenance supplies correspond to each iJetColor press family.
| iJetColor Press Family | Ink Type | Ink Configuration | Typical Ink Capacity | Common Service Supplies | Best Application Fit | Ordering Check |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iJetColor Classic | Dye-based aqueous | CMYK with model-specific black configuration | Confirm by installed cartridge and serial number | Printhead, separator components, cleaning and waste-ink items | Uncoated envelopes, letterhead, and short-run direct mail | Check the complete cartridge number before purchase |
| iJetColor NXT | Dye-based aqueous | CMYK ink tanks | 250 ml per listed color tank | Printhead cartridge, wiper roller, waste-ink tray, absorbent pad, and separator parts | Full-color envelopes and variable-data mail on porous stocks | Match M5-series supply numbers to the machine record |
| iJetColor Pro | Dye-based aqueous | CMYK bulk ink tanks | 2 liters per color | Printhead cartridge and Pro wiper roller | Higher-volume envelope, mail, and light packaging work on compatible porous media | Do not substitute NXT or 1175-family ink |
| iJetColor 1175 Family | Pigment-based aqueous | CMYK cartridges | 238 ml per current listed cartridge | Service tray, filter foam, feeder belts, main belt, tension rollers, and printhead-related parts | Water-resistant envelopes, coated mailers, labels, and high-volume variable-data work | Check for superseded cartridge numbers and revised capacities |
